For most EU countries, your pet needs a microchip, a valid rabies vaccination, and an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) issued by an official vet within 10 days of travel. Some countries have additional requirements — for example, a tapeworm treatment for dogs entering Finland or Ireland. As part of your Relocation Concierge plan, we provide a destination-specific checklist and liaise directly with your vet to ensure every requirement is met and timed correctly.

Your Relocation Manager will provide personalised pre-travel guidance once your plan is confirmed. Generally, we recommend: a vet check in the weeks before travel, ensuring vaccinations are current, bringing a worn item of your clothing in the carrier (your scent significantly reduces anxiety), withholding food for 3–4 hours before collection, and providing any regular medication as prescribed. For anxious or elderly pets, we discuss calming options with your vet in advance.

Absolutely — our Pet & Owner Transport option is included within the Relocation Concierge service. Many breeds, and many owners, prefer to travel together. Your Relocation Manager will coordinate the journey for both of you — including rest stops, accommodation, and the full route. Some families find this significantly reduces their pet stress, and it can make the overall move feel more manageable for everyone.

For international relocations we recommend contacting us at least 6–8 weeks before your intended travel date. This gives time to arrange vet appointments, complete the Animal Health Certificate within its 10-day validity window, and plan the journey properly. For UK-only moves, 2–3 weeks is typically sufficient. That said, we do handle urgent relocations — call us to discuss your specific timeline and we will do everything we can.

Our driver handles all Eurotunnel logistics — booking, check-in, and the 35-minute crossing. At EU border checks, the officer verifies your pet's documentation. Because we prepare all paperwork meticulously in advance, this process is routine and quick. We hold both UK (DEFRA cert 33107309) and EU (IE/0221) licences — something most UK pet transport companies do not — which means we are fully legal to operate after the border crossing, not just up to it.

Your Relocation Manager remains contactable throughout the entire journey. All our drivers carry full onboard emergency equipment, hold pet first aid certification, and are trained in animal behaviour. In the event of any concern — from a vehicle issue to a pet showing signs of distress — your manager is informed immediately and takes action. You will always know what is happening. We have contingency plans for delays, alternative routes, and emergency vet contacts at key points along every route we use.

EU countries have a unified pet entry system for microchipped, vaccinated dogs, cats, and ferrets entering from the UK. Your AHC is the primary document — it covers entry into all EU member states and is checked at the first point of entry. Our team is fullyfamiliar with country- specific requirements across all 27 EU member states, and we also cover non-EU European destinations such as Switzerland, Norway, and Gibraltar. We confirm all destination-specific requirements before your travel date.
